New work going on by the Chichester canal
They are building 2 and 3 bedroom homes and 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments. It is a collection of new apartments and town houses which is being built in Chichester ship canal in West Sussex.
In a joint venture with Linden homes, Wates acquired and is developing the 2 acre Brownfield site which will deliver 86 new homes, including 25 affordable properties for local people. The site was purchased in 2010 and is located adjacent to the Chichester Canal basin. The scheme offers a mix of waterfront town houses and apartments. Architecturally attractive and high quality design. Design materials used to reflect local resources and traditions. This scheme will provide a new canal trust visitors centre.
The prices start at Prices from £140,000 for these apartments.
A lot of people really like the plans to make new apartments in Chichester at the canal as it will bring in more people into the area. Although there is concern for the new student accommodation being built in the Stockbridge road. This work is being done near this other site and could also cause concern as local people don’t like the other work being done they won’t like this work that is being done either. It has created many jobs doing this work but is creating a lot of noise and the crane being used can be seen from Chichester High School Sixth Form.
People will be wondering where the money has come from to do this work especially as recently they have announced in Chichester area that some bus routes will be cut and if this student accommodation and new apartments are being built the money must be coming from the cut bus route which will leave many people having to find another way to get around, younger kids getting the bus to school and older people using their free bus pass to get into town, for them this is their only way to get around and this will be a big lose for them if their bus service is cut. So where is the money coming from to make these new apartments and student accommodation.
