Chichester Butter markets unit’s still strong interest for them
There is continued strong interest for the empty units in the Chichester Butter Market.
There is still one unit on the ground floor, three units and the open plan area on the ground floor still open for lease.
The people involved in the project are adamant the spaces that are still available will be filled once the right owners have been found.
Chartered surveyors Aston Rose are the letting agents for the Butter Market in Chichester North Street.
Director of investment at the firm, Mark Minchell said: “At the moment we have some relatively strong interest in the majority of the space. We are very keen to make sure the tenants are right so it’s sustainable, we don’t want to put people in there who don’t complement each other.”
He said “there is particular interest in the open-plan restaurant space on the first floor. It’s a restaurant chain that people would know,” he said. “But it’s very early days in respect of those negotiations, and might not happen, because there are a lot of things that could go wrong.”
Chichester City Council clerk Rodney Duggua said “the empty shops was not costing the tax payer any money. The refurbishment has cost the community not one penny,” he said. I would say I never expected to see the Butter Market reach its full potential for at least 18 months.”
Although a lot of people are worried as by the looks of some of the shops that have already been opened in the Butter Market are going to be expensive shops and won’t fit in with the other shops that are in the Chichester shopping area. As not many people will want to shop there as most of the products being sold will be more expensive.
